worst pictures in the MLS contest

Inspired by temeculaguy's three car garage monitor, I have another idea that will justify my obsession with constantly reviewing MLS listings even though I won't be buying any time soon.

What has shocked me is just how bad some MLS pictures are. Agents- make me want to come to the house! We assume that you are putting the house's best features in the pictures. I don't want to see dirty dishes. I don't want to see eight pictures of the same room. I don't want to see pictures of the current owners pets.

So I think we need to start the "worst of the MLS" contest. I do think we should cut some slack to low price listings and smaller older condos, where there is not much any photographer could do.
The true "worst" are the mid to high end listings showing features that actually drive me away from the home. Like the kitchen picture in my nominee. .

These are the best they could do on a $1.1-1.2m listing of a near new home?

Is that an indoor basketball court under the tent? And how can you go wrong with a mounted 17" computer monitor?

DO NOT FORGET!! The driving range!! Look closely it is easy to miss. That would save me 9 dollars a week!

Hey that could just as well be a batting cage. I have one of those, (12X12X12 net draped over PVC) but couldn't get the PVC to hold up so I took it down. I lovingly called it my redneck batting cage.

Got a new one for you. If this is upgraded, I'd hate to see the before photo.

isn't it a manufactured/mobile home? Lot of money if so.

it's on the ocean & you walk out your den directly onto the beach.

Symphony Towers candidate:

Check out the shower head "close up."

I can't believe the date of the last sale - two weeks ago!! A 20% haircut in two weeks is pretty darn fast.

OK, this has got to be the worst set of pics I have ever seen on a RE listing. They want $579k and don't even clean up the garbage in their photos?

"Do sports in the backyard or add a pool" and "old-world charm" - in other words, this place has never been upgraded nor has anything been picked up since the owners moved in circa 1953.

BTW, that "front porch" that the realtor lauds in the listing description looks more like a front stoop to me. Doesn't a porch imply having room enough to set a few chairs on?

This is a definite Kraftsman with a K.

Ran into this one today, check out the kitchen counter tops.

I think the note taped to the cupboard says: "Timmy, clean up this mess before the realtor gets here" haha

Submitted by temeculaguy on September 10, 2007 - 12:36am.

I love the note in the kitchen, about the Old World Charm one about three posts before, I like how they tout "seconds from I-5," is that really a bonus? Maybe they should have said "Don't just see and hear the freeway, smell it." Or maybe "Who needs the traffic report, you can hear the crashes on the freeway from your bedroom."

I think this one is going to take a 50,000 gift card from Lowe's to get sold at that price!

Submitted by salo_t on September 11, 2007 - 10:09pm.

Not to mention the dirt hill shadowing the place looks ready to let go at any minute.

Submitted by temeculaguy on September 11, 2007 - 10:14pm.

That one is precious, 1300 sq ft, 4 bedrooms and you can make it a 5 bedroom. Why the hell not, the garage is already a bedroom, I bet people already live in the kitchen and the livingroom (if there still is one), so make it a 5br with the free lowes gift card. Or better yet, buy garden sheds for the back and call them guest houses.

So, they started to remodel, but ran out of money??

P.S. That lawn is craptastic.

Someone posted this one in another topic, but it wanted to post it here because this really could be one of the all-time worst.

And after you see those pictures, be sure to rush over because the realtor tells us: "Hurry this one won't last, priced to sell fast"

Submitted by JC on September 12, 2007 - 6:28pm.

I think you may have found the winner! Good god - they clearly did not even attempt to do anything here. I think they would have been better off with "photo not submitted yet".

$430k???!!!! hahahahaha

Submitted by PadreBrian on September 13, 2007 - 1:55pm.

Okay, we have a winner. It's all there. Nasty rat hole, dishes, unlit rooms, unmade beds, mirrored living room, bad dry wall through-out, exposed wires, tile job from hell, "curtains" from TJ cathouse, dead back yard with our barrio fence, and paved front yard. All yours for $430,000.

It's going to be hard to top that.

Submitted by johnnyre on September 14, 2007 - 1:54pm.

Who and where do I collect my prize $??

Submitted by beachlover on September 18, 2007 - 10:47am.

"I'm ready for my close-up, Mr. DeMille." (from the movie Sunset Blvd)

That series of photos looks like someone smeared Vaseline on the lens - trying for mood lighting or hoping someone's eyesight is so poor they can't read the loan docs either when they sign?

Would it me mean to start a "Worst Realtor Picture" thread?
