We have had so many posters come and hang around for a few weeks, months or longer only to vanish. I often wonder what ever became of some of those folks.

I recently came back after a lengthy hiatus. The reason I left is because I thought I would not be moving back to San Diego until APR 09 instead it will be APR 08. Now I'm frantically getting caught up on the buying and rental market. I will rent thanks to the information gleaned from this site.

I'm guessing JG and his double inverse funds are celebrating Xmas with a tree fo the Charlie Brown variety.

Personally I'd like to hear from some of these folks again.
It's unfortunate that some left because of differences in point-of-view with respect to religion and politics.

I suspect some are still here...the straight-jackets they are wearing make it next to impossible to post, though;)

I am sure Powayseller is doing well...I guess I never had the animosity towards her that others have had. I haven't spoke to her for awhile but she is a Realtor now. You can check out her latest posting on her site.

"It's unfortunate that some left because of differences in point-of-view with respect to religion and politics."

I agree. Sometimes, like now, I feel bad about this since I was, at times very ornery with JG. Logic kicks in and I think, if someone is going to be discouraged from participating on a housing blog because of politics and religion, maybe they are too wrapped up in their views on politics and religion. Also I assume that if someone can dish it out they can take it. He could have also left for reason completely unrelated to the fussing and fighting. Maybe he realized he needed to calm down and had to quit "cold turkey".

I think Perry got a worse deal but even he could be here if he wanted to be. If he was using his real name it is easy to understand why he might leave in the face of the abuse he was handed.

Some people have come and gone because they were not making enough money from the blog IMO.

23109vc? remember, he was on the fence about buying a home in Temecula, and then proceeded to do so against our advice. I think he bought w/ a 100% loan too. I wonder if he still visits the site?

Submitted by SD Realtor on December 5, 2007 - 11:50am.

It is true lending.

Again, I got along with Powayseller and still do get along with her... I think she is quite intelligent. She was very adamant on her convictions and well perhaps took things a little to much to heart...and maybe was not great at letting things go.

After all this is just an internet posting board and when you click the computer off you have to be able to drop the anger or hurt right?

Some can and some cannot.

Rus I miss Perry and JG as well. It would not surprise me at all if many of the posters still lurk from time to time. JG would drive me crazy with his stance on many issues and sometimes I wonder if it was all an act just to get a rise out of us. For awhile I thought JWM may be a somewhat distilled version of JG but now I don't.

Kind of a nostalgic thread.

I will say though that I believe there is a VERY large segment of lurkers that read yet do not post.

I have to admit that I don't frequent the forum as much as I initially did mainly due to the religious/political sniping that is always taking place. I don't mind if it is contained within a political or religious thread but it seems to make it's way into too many real estate threads as well.

Is there a single thread regarding the Temecula/Murrieta housing scam where 4plexowner doesn't arrogantly scoff at the fact that most of the Murrieta buyers involved go to church and are therefore obviously far more gullible than a normal person? There are countless other real estate related threads in which people make negative insinuations regarding Bush's intelligence or the stupidity of Republicans etc. I'm not religious and I don't think Bush is highly intelligent but it still annoys me when I have to read some arrogant persons religious or political opinion in a thread where it doesn't really belong. I also have to admit that it seems to occur mostly from the left. I know that demeaning other peoples viewpoints makes them feel that there personal view is more sacrosanct but is the need to do so so ingrained into their persona that they feel they need to inject their view into every thread they "contribute" to?

If you want to talk about how you feel Christians are gullible and stupid then start a thread called "Christians are gullible and stupid" or perhaps one called "Conservatives are Morons and everyone on the Left, like Me, are highly intelligent and Enlightened". Then I can just avoid those threads and not have to read the drivel. Otherwise, in the end, I will probably not visit the site at all.

It may be inevitable that all largely unmoderated public forums will degrade to a point where only kindergarten style bantering takes place wholly unrelated to the forum topic but I would hope it won't happen here because I enjoy reading the clean, uncorrupted real estate related threads. I guess we'll find out in the long run.

23109vc may come back now that Bush extended his 1.5% loan until 2010???

I always apreciated CardiffBaseball as well. Hope he's doing well.

SD R,
You cant be serious that Powayseller is a realtor? That is the ultimate irony after the abuse she gave me. I guess that the blog didnt pay off as I told her it wouldnt. Who in their right mind would do business with such an abrasive personality. I suspect she wont be succesful at it. The truth is the most successful Realtors I know arent necessarily the smartest but rather the best at interpersonal relationships. I cant believe she would enter the field with all she knows about the market and the volume. She must really be hurting. Next thing you'll tell me is that she's ready to buy a house again.

I am flabbergasted on that one.

This thread would not be complete without a mention of Docteur. Perhaps the best poster we ever had.

Looks like I've been remiss about keeping posters in line ;-)

As you may recall, my wife was pregnant and due in December. Well, he came a little early: 11/27/07. So I've been a little preoccupied lately...and lacking some sleep.

Not to mention I'm on a job search as well.

Still lurking though.

Actually sdrealtor I am still around. Between jury-duty and a two week trip back to the Midwest I haven't posted much in the last month or so.

I went back for my 20th year high school reunion, and the kids had their first visit since leaving in August of 2005. My little one (10 yr. old) didn't want to come back to Cali, but the older one is starting to come around that maybe he'd rather be here.

One cool thing was seeing a very attractive young lady (well my age) for the first time since graduation who said "hey I am going to be in SD next weekend" so we met up in the gaslamp the other night. Mrs. CardiffBaseball even gave me a kitchen pass since she couldn't attend. Apparently several others are heading this way at some point. One advantage of living in a vacation destination I suppose.

" insinuations regarding Bush's intelligence "

can one insinuate re: a non extant entity?

Submitted by Chris Scoreboar... on December 5, 2007 - 7:32pm.

For me having come and gone it is the lack of any positive discussions. I wind up lurking a bit because I get bored sometimes staring at futures markets all day long and take breaks.

There does seem to be a good amount of brain power in here, so it would be nice to have some positive threads on how to make money now. We all know RE is toast for awhile, so what else are you going to do? I always have the markets, but it seems that alot of people in here miss opportunities that might othwerwise be available, by being so negative.

I guess it is an RE blog so maybe that is what I miss, there isn't much positive to say about RE so maybe by default this just becomes a negative place. Maybe I just fail to realize that.

This site is still one of my number one sites but I have other hobbies that I need to get back to while I wait for prices to fall. I have been discussing real estate in great detail for the last 5 years and I think I need a break... at least for now but I know I'll get RE fever again in a few months.

Submitted by DCRogers on December 5, 2007 - 11:50pm.

I read a number of different real-estate and finance related sites, but this site is at its best giving a "local" view to global phenomena... discussions of neighborhoods, zip codes, and even individual houses, add to my knowledge of the microclimates in this SD marketplace.

(Shame the posting of individual houses has been sullied by advertisers attempting to turn this into a sales board... but Rich has been great at keeping this from turning into sandiego.craigslist.org/rfs/. [Del Cerro open house, anyone?].)

Keep the local stuff coming! (I hope to have more stuff from 92116 soon myself...)
