...Survive The Tp Crisis Of 2020

yesterday while stocking up, was looking for TP and then thought that we're in for some real trouble when lots of people start flushing stuff other than real TP down the toilet

so might want to let the tenants (as well as neighbors), friends, family, co-workers, etc., know about the damage that can be caused to residential plumbing as well as muni plumbing systems if stuff other than TP is flushed down toilets

You are so right phaster. Flushing non TP down the toilet can lead do costly repairs.
“Flushable” wipes are in fact not flushable and are a major headaches to sewer district. They just increase taxes on owners to deal with costs.

I grabbed the sant patricks day deals and stocked up on beer, cabbage and corn-beef.

Must be the Irish in me LOL.

They are saying that TP will soon be restocked with abundant supply but that "FOOD" will be our next challenge.

Wall-mart announced giving bonuses, they are in boom times
The great TP boom of 2020 LOL.

There's no shortage of toilet paper. You can order online from Costco and have it delivered for just a few bucks extra via instacart.

The major shortages are still.
Disinfectant wipes, sprays, and rubbing alcohol that people stockpiled and use as a disinfectant spray.

There is also a slight shortage of some laptops and computer monitors now that more people have to work from home and learn from home, especially on the lower end.

Ironically, the computer industry and computer gaming industry might end up doing ok because of this because this virus might have triggered an earlier upgrade cycle than originally people predicted. And not everyone can afford a MacBook air or pro. if you have a few kids, and all of them are at home, you probably need more than one pc or Chromebook.

actually seems there is no shortage of idiots

then there is the governors wife

www.sfgate.com/news/article/California-g...

which is why I felt compelled to try and point out the fact that there are serious unintended consequences that sadly too few think about

speaking of which WRT alcohol that people stockpiled,...

have family that are MDs and they have pointed out that repeated skin exposure to alcohol will dry out the skin and that dry/damaged skin actually will have more nooks and crannies where dirt/virus can hide

that is why the suggestion is to wash hands is the best way to prevent a vector transmission,...

people just don't think critically or bother looking into the science

do surgeons dip their hands into vats of alcohol??? hell no they don't,... they scrub up as they say,... this is because there is mechanical action to remove grime, then there is the hydrophobic lipid nature of the virus

www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC317...

heard an interesting discussion of virologists mentioning that they find it kind funny/sad that seems anti-vax moment actually caused lots of problems and sort explains why we're kinda up shit creek now (in that people don't trust science or modern medicine, saying there is a conspiracy, blah, blah, blah)

www.medpagetoday.com/nursing/nursing/83376

perhaps those that supported the anti-vax moment should be last in line or even denied to get a vaccine for covid-19 when its developed?!

I lucked out in this area...last fall I bought each of the kids state of the art gaming computers. They are now being used for all of their online schoolwork and then they game out since we can't go anywhere.

We've got 10 computers hooked up at our house, if you include the work laptops brought home for the month.

Phaster, I don’t really see what’s wrong with the Governor’s saying she out of TP. I have lots of storage so i normally always have lots from Costco. But no hoarding.

You’re right about alcohol not being good for the skin.

Of course this virus situation is different, but normally some germs are good for the immune system. You want to be clean, but not antiseptic.

We lucked out here too...we usually buy the 18 roll pack and my wife and I went to the store separately one weekend in Feb and each bought one unbeknownst to the other, so we should be able to make it quite a bit of time.
