Surveyor Cost

This is semi-on-topic. Does anyone know an affordable land surveyor? Looking to find the boundaries on our canyon-backing home, otherwise typical suburban lot.

Any estimates on expected cost? Thanks!

I tired to shop around but did not have much luck. You are probably looking at about $300-400.

I ended up doing it myself. I did not need a formal one, and was lucky there were two survey pins on or close to my line already. One was a standard penny size one with a code on it and marked on the recorder map, the other was tiny, like a very worn and irregular nail head, and barely visible.

Not the most efficient route, but it was fun.

If it is for a side fence, tell your neighbor it is customary to split the cost.

I tried pretty hard one time then just gave up. I was putting a fence in and called a neighbor that does it, but he said, "he mostly does city work and he's too busy" so he referred me to someone else in town. I called them and got a call back about a week later and they said they recommend someone else because they have too much going on.

So I googled it and ended up here: https://land-surveyors.promatcher.com/co...

Seems like $800 or so. Since my estimate for the fence was $1000 that seemed insane so I just spoke with my neighbor and we kind of eyeballed it and put some markers in the ground and called it a day.

Is this for building purposes or just for you to know ?
A plat map should be available for free from a title company.

Plat map is a document drawn to scale, showing the divisions of a piece of land. It gives the legal descriptions of real property by lot, street, and block number.

It should show the dimensions on all sides. You may be able to easily find a survey marker/monument to start from,

Ha, the quotes I have been receiving are much worse than this so far, though the quotes are for licensed surveyors who will come find the markers and record the marker with the county. I don't quite understand the details of recording yet.

Anyway, still looking for specific recommendations if anyone has one!

Your markers have already been recorded.
Are you looking to do a lot split OR lot line adjustment

What did you ask them to do before they gave you their quote ?
