Can anyone recommend an honest, reputable, reasonably priced local moving company for a local move? I have checked online, at, etc., but any recommendations of companies you have actually used recently would be most appreciated!

I remember powayseller recommending a name about a year ago here. If you cant find it in a search of piggington, then visit her website and ask her. I think it is, or something very similar to that.

powayseller also predicted the "S&P 500 dropping to 600 by spring 2007" ;)

we recently had good experience with manpower movers
Two guys worked very hard for five straight hours. The only charge we paid was their hourly rate ($95 for two guys and the truck). I think they charge double time for the drive between houses if its more than 15 min, but otherwise no bs fees like with most movers.

Wife noticed a few scratches on some furniture (IKEA, so no biggy) Otherwise it was a delightfully stress free experience.

There is no such thing. Keep an eye on them and participate in the move to keep loss/damage to a minimum.

Bay Park movers did a good no nonsense job for me in the past.

Thanks everyone for your input. Making calls this weekend to get some quotes!

Did you want thrifty, brave, clean and reverent too? Might be kinda tough. Most Boyscouts don't moonlight as movers. A lot of starving college students seem to though I can't attest to their honesty.

No, just honest and dependable, at a fair price. So sad that it is so hard to find these days....
