Powayseller’s latest publicity stunt for her lame website involves writing hate letters about Rich to the

Having seen other rants she’s written, we know that the “countless mistakes” she mentions are just differences of opinion. But that doesn’t stop her from implying that the columns contain outright incorrect information, which is total BS.

You can comment on the letter at the above link on the site. Feel free to offer a counterpoint.

Wow - that's quite a nastygram. She's always been full of vitriol, but now she has gone TOO FAR.

For good housing market analyses, go to my website.

Hey Professor Berkland - do you know what "spell check" is?

Why would ANYONE pay for analysis from someone who can't even spell analysis?

Poweyseller = amateur hour.

Cheap plug, but I'm not about to take advice on buying from a Realtor. She used to be a regular contributor here, why the fallout?

glass houses...

"Analyses" is the plural of analysis.

Submitted by Critter on May 3, 2007 - 1:50pm.

Cooprider, she used to post a lot and get quite strident when people disagreed with her. She started off with decent ideas but disintegrated over time - got quite upset when anyone had a different point of view, ESPECIALLY when they were right.

The classic "jump the shark" post is "S&P dropping to 600 by spring 07." People keep bringing it back from the dead.

Submitted by no_such_reality on May 3, 2007 - 1:55pm.

Got to disagree. Her "Jump the Shark" post was Did This Really Happen

The lack of logical analysis is painfully obvious.

You say Rich's analysis is Lacking, I just want to know: Where are the proofs?

Do you have any data to back what you say?

In God I trust, everyone else (including you) please bring data.

Well aware of that - her sentence indicates analysis was the term she was looking for, not analyses.

Thanks for the heads up brooke. I just left a comment.

Damn she is "totally whacked"(as the kids like to say).

Gonna say a little prayer for her husband and children. She can go to hell.

Someone needs to check the IP logs at VOSD and compare them to the Piggington IP log -- I doubt that's really her. It looks to me like a blatant attempt by a PS-hater to discredit her. She was never rude to Rich as far as I can remember and she's not going to bash anyone for being too data-oriented since that's what her whole website is about. Whoever posted it exhibits the characteristic poor spelling of an insecure faux-intellectual; one doesn't "pour over data", one "pores over data".

Submitted by woodrow on May 3, 2007 - 2:05pm.

sounds just like powayseller to me.

Submitted by PD on May 3, 2007 - 2:07pm.

Wow, I think she has an honest to goodness mental disorder. She would completely go off the deep end now and again when she was posting here. Maybe she is bipolar. In any event, Rich chastised her previously (with good reason) and she seems to be intent on getting revenge by attacking him (while also drumming up traffic on her website). In addition to being disgusting, it is very sad, for she clearly has a lot of natural intelligence, which seems to have been hijacked by psychosis.

I'm not convinced PS wrote that, it sounds so foolish as if it had to be a joke. We all know PS is a little whacky/moody sometimes but I always chalked that up to menopause.

Submitted by sdrealtor on May 3, 2007 - 2:58pm.

Before anyone tries to throw me under the bus, it was unequivocably not my work. I'm surprised someone hasnt tried to attribute it to me as an attempt to discredit her. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Rich and would never do anything like that. I doubt that it was submitted by her as that seems well below her.

BTW, I am responsible for global warming.

Submitted by blahblahblah on May 3, 2007 - 3:00pm.

If the webmaster of this site has time, maybe they can ask the VOSD webmaster for the IP address that posted that letter -- they should be able to search the logs here on this site and see if it shows up; if it does, you'll know who posted it (please tell us if you find it!). I suspect someone is trying to make PS look bad. If not, then maybe she is just resorting to crazy tactics to try and drum up traffic for her site -- but she'd have to be pretty freaking stupid to try something as lame as that...

Submitted by Critter on May 3, 2007 - 3:11pm.

Or, someone could call PS to verify - her phone number is on her website. I'd ask sdr to do it, but he's too busy arguing with Al Gore.

Submitted by lurkor on May 3, 2007 - 3:11pm.

It sounds like pure Powayseller to me. If it's a fake, it's damn good.

I clicked over to her site (damn, I guess her ploy worked) and this chart caught my eye:

good analyses

That's some serious professionalism, just what i would expect from a pay site. Do you think she hired a graphic design firm to add that blue line, or did she pull that off herself? It seriously looks like something a toddler would do with a crayon.

Submitted by HereWeGo on May 3, 2007 - 3:17pm.

I'm sure poway is thrilled that Piggington no longer links to her website. Oh well, you pay your money and you take your chances, as they say.

That's some beautiful work there, lurkor. Simply outstanding.

The post is classic ps -- misspellings, blunt, poor form. Poor girl either has a screw loose or is completely, utterly tone deaf.

Perry, you are partly responsible for this because of your lack of rebukes for/cheering on despite her past poor behavior. Present your hand for the ruler, sir!

Submitted by sdduuuude on May 3, 2007 - 3:50pm.

I'm no powayseller supporter, but I, too, have a feeling this is not her post. I'm sure she'll post here soon if it isn't her.

Submitted by PD on May 3, 2007 - 3:50pm.

I think it is very possible she wrote that piece. She has attacked Rich before.

If she did not write it, she will post here and deny it. She still reads Piggington's (because still posts on occasion) so she will probably see this thread.

Submitted by Bugs on May 3, 2007 - 4:12pm.

Regardless of who wrote that or what their motivations are, I assume the comments on PS's web site that bear her name are an accurate reflection of her point of view.

I think Rich lets his work speak for him instead of the other way around, and I appreciate that. He seems to lay all the information he comes across out there and allows it to take it's own form, even though some of the datapoints may conflict at times with the overall trends. BTW, that is the way the data behaves out in the real world - sometimes it's more consistent than others. A lot of why I find Rich's work credible is because when it's inconsistent or inconclusive, he says so. He doesn't try to jam every little square piece into the round hole for the express purposes of calling it all round.

As for him not using his every waking moment to run down every lead and pursue every story that comes to his attention, that's not very difficult to understand. He isn't running a pay site, this isn't a business for him, and Piggington's was never intended to be anything other than a blog or casual forum. We SHOULD have different expectations for a site like Piggington's than we would for a site purporting to provide investment guidance or which is oriented to providing a professional service.

I'm here because of his work, not because of his personality or because I think he's cute (although I'm sure some people do consider him to epitomize the image of a Greek God).

The only time I remember Rich getting involved in the user forums was on a couple occasions in the meetup threads and once to threaten to regulate the close quarters combat that was going on at the time between PS and her loyal opposition.

Who would have ever imagined Rich's following would get big enough to have a vocal fundamentalist splinter group?

Submitted by FormerSanDiegan on May 3, 2007 - 4:13pm.

I occasionally check her site for content. She posted a similar thing on her own website, using similar words. The posting on voiceofsandiego says some of the same things she posted on hers.

Some excerpts and the link below ...

One more thing: some people on the piggington forums ask what happened to powayseller. After I wrote that "Rich and I missed the boom", which is true, he really lost his cool, and frankly I did not like contributing to a site where now the host was calling me some bad names. That was on top of having to deal with personalities like jg and others who often put me down, for no reason. I just got tired of dealing with them.

I also lost respect for the low level of reporting on that site, and the host's reluctance to learn from others. I had sent him referrals, realtors he could interview, and they all told me he never called. I sent him emails with corrections to stories in the last few months, but no corrections were ever issued. So there is an air of super sensitivity, and that goes to the clash we had: Rich allowed all name calling in the forum, but absolutely would not tolerate any critique of his reports.

Sounds similar to the post on VOSD.

The unspoken rule over there is "do not disagree with the God". The worship over there went against my sensibilities.

I hope that nobody worships me like that. I would never want that. Please always use your common sense, and don't blindly believe people who try to teach you about real estate from behind a desk. I stopped reading Rich's reports, because he uses data to speculate, instead of using facts/interviews to understand. So he comes up with some colorful graphs, but some of them frankly are wrong and misleading.

I realize he dropped me from his RSS Feeds for his website, so my reports are no longer posted over there. This was likely because he did not like that I corrected his story that NODs are must-sell inventory, leading to price drops. He was also mad, as I said above, that I wrote that " I and he missed the real estate boom".

I have no problem admitting that, or acknowledging any mistakes. I constantly question other people, so I can keep learning. Demand that of your advisors! Be careful getting your real estate advice from people who do not want to learn, who refuse to disclose their own real estate investing history, or who have a need to be worshipped rather than understood.

A big difference you will find here is that I welcome your comments, no matter how much you disagree with me.

Holy cow, maybe that really was her! I never read her site so I just gave her the benefit of a doubt. After reading that bit I'm glad I didn't waste my time...

Submitted by sdduuuude on May 3, 2007 - 4:42pm.

Suddenly, I'm interested in posting over there just to see how well she keeps learning.

We could start a pool to see how long it takes her to start deleting posts under the guise of "Moderating" her forum.

That's pretty funny. Claiming someone's data and their statistical interpretation of the data is wrong because they won't interview people.

I stopped reading Rich's reports, because he uses data to speculate, instead of using facts/interviews to understand.

That makes no sense at all. Real data and real numbers are about as factual as you can get. Interviews and opinions from those in the trench are just that... opinions. I would not trust what RE agents and most economists have to say since they have been the benefactors and in most respects the promoters of the current asset bubble. There has never been a precedent for the current bubble so someone's "expert" opinion on what will happen next is pure SPECULATION.

She should probably get her terminology down since there is a big difference between interpretation and speculation. Rich has been really good at presenting and interpreting data so that we as readers can digest it and decide if it makes sense.

That is the proper way to educate and enlighten people.

Submitted by lurkor on May 3, 2007 - 5:14pm.

Read the above rant copied from her crap site and then read the voice of sd letter. No question it's written by the same person.

Anyone who read that "missed the boom" post she mentions in the above rant knows that she is totally misrepresenting what actually happened. I recall Rich "lost his cool" because she was spreading false info about his private financial life, and then she wouldn't stop when he asked her to. Funny how that part got left out.

It's one thing for her to say funny, stupid stuff like "I stopped reading Rich's reports, because he uses data to speculate," but it's another thing to spread lies and rumors and attack someone personally just because you disagree about some things. She is truly a despicable person.

Are her housing forecasts as solid as her S&P 500 forecasts?

Solid? Did you mean soiled?
