When you’re talking multi-million art, then you’re entering a special category where the filthy rich want to own unique pieces for ego.
Museums also will bid high prices because those “celebrity” pieces can be used in special exhibits as bait to draw large paying audiences.
Now, if you’re talking about a $50,000 painting, buy it only because you really love it. You might need to hold your breath a very long time to see appreciation, if any at all.
