Hey Piggs,

I've got an older vehicle (1962) that I want to get some work done on. (Mechanical-ignition related not body work) Anyone know of a decent repair shop that works on old vehicles?

Thanks,
XBoxBoy

I routinely see 1960s cars in front of Sunset Cliffs Automotive, and they always did good and cheap work on my prior 2004 car.

Near there is RaceRods at Cable and Voltaire. They mainly do 50s to 70s sports cars, a mix of US and Italian makes plus MGs, not much German or Japanese.

In every neighborhood, there is a good old mechanic who works on cars of any vintage. I know where they are on the 78 corridor, have no idea further south.

When my mechanic kicks the bucket and I have to find a new one (has happened a few times), I'll use my crappiest vehicle as the guinea pig when trying out other places. It usually takes me 2 or 3 tries before I find a mechanic I like.

Try Smittys on Adams Avenue.
Been there forever. Mike, the son of the original owner is not as involved as he used to be but he is exceptional. Not the cheapest, but always honest.

Mike has also referred me to other mechanics as well, to do work he wouldn't do (install a junkyard part, differential rebuild) or that is closer to our new place.

So, if Smittys doesn't work for you he may very well know a good place.

Except Carmel Valley.
