Lexus Certified Pre Owned-Worth it?

Hi Folks:

I am considering a Lexus IS or ES and was wondering any experience with Certified Pre Owned. Any problems or comments? I am most concerned that I will have to get every little thing done at the Lexus dealership in order to get coverage. Is this so? I already know a good mechanic and am not looking to be spending $$ just to get stuff like an oil change or air filter change at the Lexus dealer, no matter how classy the donuts are :-)

Also, I already have financing from my credit union (1.99% @ 72 months) and was wondering if I am required to fill out a credit application. I just don't want my credit pulled again when I am already set. I did go to a couple of other dealerships and they all told me they needed my SSN because of "Obama, 9/11 and DHS".

Thanks I would appreciate any prices you recently paid for new cars in these models as of July/Aug 2013.

If you're getting the loan from the bank, they do NOT need to pull your credit. Unless you're literally paying cash, not cashier's check or wire transfer, they do NOT need your SSN for reporting. If they ask for your SSN, tell them to go f**k themselves.

(And personally, I'd just buy used off Craigslist -- to hell with dealers and the slime who work there, warranty or no.)

haha!! I love the blunt replies. Thanks spdrun. I have been to a couple of dealerships and they try to pressure me into loving the car and don't think I will walk out, but I do. I think Craigslist is going to be my source.
