Given a discussion about glass ceilings for Asians in another thread...

I saw that CA State Treasurer John Chiang is entering the 2018 CA Governor's race. I don't know much about him, but I'd like to find out more.

I cannot stomach that philandering, smug Lt Governor Gavin Newsom.

Apparently SD Mayor Kevin Faulconer may also be running on the Republican side.

It should be interesting.

I'm also rather stunned at the blahness of our Senate candidates. I listened to part of their debate on KPBS radio and neither of the democratic candidates seems very polished. And I don't think a Republican can win.

I love politics, but despite Chiang's entry, it's too early for me to care about 2018.

As for the 2016 California Senate race, yeah, it's safe Democrat. The democratic candidates don't have serious policy disagreements so it's gonna be blah unless one goes negative. There's little incentive to do so, since the Democrats may be able to pull off a Democrat vs. Democrat November election if they are the top 2 vote getters in the primary.
